Mint may be the easiest thing to grow! That can be a blessing or a curse. Because of this, I love to grow mine in containers. It gives me just the perfect amount without taking over my entire garden. But there are certain things to keep in mind:

To keep mint growing throughout the summer, it needs to be cut back.
Allowing mint to flower will signal to the plant to stop growing, putting all strength into blooms
Continually keep the mint cut back by cutting whole stems out down to the base of the plant
If a few cuttings have been missed, cut the entire plant back to the base and allow the mint to grow back and flesh itself out.

Even if you don’t have many uses, cut the mint and put it on the compost pile, use it in flower arrangements, or make mint tea (video coming next week)!
