The BIDMAS maths rule is an acronym for which order processes should be done in a problem. It stands for Brackets, Indices, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction.

The exception to the rule of BIDMAS is subtraction and addition. If these are the only parts left in the sum, then they should be worked out from left to right, in the order that they are found. For example: 2 + 3 - 2 = 3
The addition appears first in this sum, therefore the addition is worked out first.
