Digger attachments are frequently stolen and resold on for profit by criminals. But its not that often that 32 items are stolen in one haul, and these taken from a so called secure auction site.

Bandits made off with over £100,000 worth of stolen plant equipment from Newark Auctions in February 2017.

It was down to Automatrics plant theft recovery tracking services to try to track down some of the stolen items which had been fitted with plant security tracking systems.

Some of these devices remotely alarmed on the 2nd March and reported several GPS positions from a travelers site near Peterborough. Automatrics sent a radio finder to the area to support a Cambridgeshire police site attendance operation. But it was a full 9 hours after receiving the first GPS positions before Cambridgeshire police could attend. Unfortunately due to police priority attendance delays these first tracking units were removed and torched along with a flat bed transportation truck.

However a few days later some more of the stolen equipment was identified and these tracking units were also remotely alarmed to this time report a cell site in Lincolnshire.

Could the Lincolnshire police react in a more timely manor to secure and recovery some of this stolen haul?
