CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - Bad news is never easy to deliver, and this story is no exception.

For the past six months, we've followed the journey of Kinley Sexton, a 6 year old from Clermont County who was diagnosed with an incurable form of brain cancer known as DIPG.

On Friday evening, just before seven, surrounded by her family, Kinley passed away

Throughout her journey, Kinley touched countless lives. Even on her darkest days, she remained a soldier in the fight against this deadly disease, and a willing champion of raising awareness.

From the start, her mother Ashley and father Bryan let us into their world, in hopes of making a difference for future generations of families affected by DIPG.

From doctor visits and radiation treatments, to quiet mornings at home, and not so quiet trips to Kinley's classroom, the Sextons were open and candid about their journey.

We last saw Kinley two weeks ago at her kindergarten graduation from Clermont Northeastern Elementary School.

While her strength had diminished and her physical appearance was drastically different than it was this time last year, Kinley was happy. She was surrounded by a community that loved her, and friends who cheered as her name was called and she graced the stage.

While Kinley is no longer with us in person, she will remain with us in spirit, as her family continues their quest to help find a cure for DIPG.
