Schlossplatz is a green gem in the heart of Stuttgart – and is located directly on the Königstrasse shopping mile. Tourists and locals like to take a break and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere.

With its rows of trees, fountains and flower fields, Schlossplatz is now considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. That wasn‘t always the case in the past. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Schlossplatz was only a parade and parade ground. It was not until the 1860s that the dusty area was transformed into a blooming flower garden.

The baroque gardens with their intersecting paths and colorful flowers are a true jewel. There are the beautiful fountains that were set up in honor of King Wilhelm I in 1863 and in which many city dwellers cool off on hot days. There is the cast‐iron bandstand with Moorish‐decorated arches, where military bands played every Sunday for many years.
