Pope Francis held his annual meeting with members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See. He invited all to embrace a "logic of encounter" and laid out his vision for a diplomacy of hope based on truth, forgiveness, freedom and justice. Pope Francis took inspiration from the Book of Isaiah — to "bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners" — and insisted on the need for "forgiveness" in politics today.
