In this report, Ivey calculates the cost to GM, per car, to allow people to continue to burn alive. His calculations determined that it costs GM two dollars and forty cents ($2.40) per car for all vehicles already on the road, and that it would only be worth $2.20 per new vehicle manufactured to eliminate all fuel fed fires in G.M. vehicles. .

The implication of this calculation: any engineering solution to the fuel-fed fire problem would need to cost less than $2.20. This is a shocking glimpse into how corporations make decisions to put profits over people.
