The situation became even more chaotic as it took a month for Pakistan to decide on its next prime minister. Speculation about Nawaz Sharif’s comeback faded when the PML-N underperformed, paving the way for Shehbaz Sharif to take the top job.

But the challenges are monumental. Pakistan continues to grapple with severe economic instability, and with Khan exerting influence even from prison, the possibility of a political upheaval remains high.
