Dedicated to the LEGEND & MEMORY of Master Patto...

Master Capaldi had always revered his contemporaries, many of them his very Good Friends... At every opportunity he supported them, jammed with them and kept them in High Regard... Consequently, he too was admired and respected by his peers... One of his great friends was Master Patto whose death in 1979 from Lymphatic Leukemia prompted Master Capaldi to write "Bright Fighter" - a very heartfelt Tribute to his Great Friend...

Goes without saying, Master Patto was one of the GREATEST Rock Vocalist in History... He was an integral part of bands like TIMEBOX, SPOOKY TOOTH, BOXER and PATTO... Several PATTO albums were produced by - none other than Master Winwood who signed them to ISLAND in the early 1970s...

"Bright Fighter" first appeared as the B-Side Single to Master Capaldi's 1981 single "Child in the Storm"... The recording features Master Capaldi on Drums & Lead Vocals, the superb 12-String Acoustic Guitar {most likely} played by Pete Bonas and the stupendous Keyboards all over the recording - by long time 'Capaldi Alumni' Chris Parren (with whom I had to pleasure of conversing during a 3AM gig... what an incredible convo that was...).

On a Final Note... Master Capaldi's long time manager John Taylor (with whom I had to pleasure of meeting very briefly in 1998) was the manager of PATTO until their break up in 1973... It has been said that when Master Capaldi played "Bright Fighter" to John Taylor for the first time at his hotel close to Schiphol Airport, he broke into tears...
