A driver, allegedly leaving a pub car park has been arrested after he caused extensive damage crashing his pickup truck into a #McLaren showroom.

#Police also said a nearby pub window had been smashed and a number of people had been threatened by the driver.

A black McLaren 750S Spider (£269,850) and an orange McLaren GT (£104,850) were hit.

The driver was taken to hospital after an ambulance and paramedic officer was sent to the scene.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: ’We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a building on Stratford Road, Hockley Heath in Solihull at 3.58pm on Sunday 7th and sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene.

‘On arrival, crews found a man who they treated for injuries not believed to be serious before conveying him to Alexandra Hospital.’

The pickup driver caused hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage after he drove into the ‘McLaren Birmingham’ Showroom in a village close to Solihull.

Police and firefighters responded to the call on Sunday 7 December afternoon after the driver allegedly left the pub car park opposite and drove into the supercar showroom on Stratford Road in Hockley Heath.

A fire service spokesman said: ‘At 3.51pm on December 7, 2025, we were called by West Midlands Police to attend an incident involving a vehicle that had been driven into a car showroom on the Stratford Road, Hockley Heath, Solihull.

‘A single fire engine from Solihull Fire Station attended the incident. West Midlands Police were at the scene and had detained a man.

‘Our crews made the scene safe, and after liaising with our technical rescue teams, confirmed there was no structural damage to the property.

‘After the site owners arrived at the scene, our crews were able to gain access to the rest of the property, and other vehicles, and made them safe.

‘Our crews left the scene at approximately 6.18pm.’

The vehicles the driver hit was a black McLaren 750S 4.0T V8 SSG Spider listed in the showroom for 269,850 pounds which was pushed back into an orange McLaren GT 4.0T V8 SSG (Sequential Shift Gearbox) listed for 104,850 pounds.

The #ISUZU pickup went through the window and dislodged a metal beam causing even more costly damage.

The joint cost of the cars damaged (not including the pickup) comes to 374,700 pounds alone.

West Midlands Police stayed at the scene overnight as private security were also brought in to protect the rest of the 5 undamaged supercars and the 2 damaged ones.

The police statement read: ‘A man is in custody today after a car was driven into a building in Solihull.

'We were called around 3.45pm yesterday (7 December) after the vehicle was driven into a car showroom in Stratford Road, Hockley Heath.

‘A nearby pub windows was also damaged, and a number of people reported being threatened nearby.

‘A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

‘He remains in custody today while our enquiries continue and anyone with more information about what happened can call 101 quoting crime number 20/468004/25.’

Above the McLaren showroom is a Lotus Showroom and next-door is a Rolls Royce showroom under the owners ‘ryland specialist cars’ [sic].

An insurance assessor was on scene photographing the building and vehicle damage.
