Well, I've finally reached the end of my first playthrough.

I ended up skipping the time spent looking around for loot, though I know some people just want to see what I got. I got a few good things (purples) that I will be using in my second playthrough to be sure.

For those interested, this is the weapon I used the entire time:

I was also using the Orange Rarity The Bee shield (My first Orange aside from the Firehawk shield, and I found it in a red loot chest.). It has rather low capacity, but shoots power amp charges with no cost to shield.

Its special effect is an increased clip size (either 300% normal or 500% normal) and significant (supposedly about 10x) when the weapon effect is made active (it's random). It essentially becomes as powerful as a mini rocket, a rocket which can be shot many times at fairly high speed before reloading. It can be very annoying getting the effect to trigger at times though.

Just as an aside, I play the game with all settings set to maximum. Recording causes some moments where the framerate isn't the greatest.
