Chutes and Ladders (PC) Walkthrough

Holy crap, I still make walkthroughs!? Yes, believe it or not, after a very long drought, I'm making more. I'll bet you didn't see this one coming either; this is a PC game adaptation of the famous children's board game Chutes and Ladders from 1999. Believe it or not, I actually had this game when I was little -- remember when General Mills did promotions by providing computer games in cereal boxes? This was one of them, and I'm sure a whole lot of other people got this game from there. I got rid of my original copy a long time ago, but came across a retail copy in a thrift store and decided, why not? It's not a fantastic game by any stretch, but I think it was worth the price of admission just for the "golden rule" cut scenes you get to see whenever you go up a ladder or down a chute. Since this game is really easy to walkthrough as it requires no skill, and it has a very surprising lack of footage on YouTube, I didn't see any reason not to make one.
The game plays just like the board game, which I'm pretty sure needs no introduction. There are three boards here to choose from, the classic board, the zoo and the circus. I played a full game on each. Before any of you ask, no, I did not actually play this with three other people; the entire game is based on the luck of a random number generator, so there was legitimately no reason not to use four players. Playing alone just gives a computer player which is no different from playing with two people on your own. Since there is no player input, I thought it'd make it more interesting.
I played on each of the boards once, then went back and played the golden rules all the way through (including the ones I had already seen in the game, for those who just want the rules and not the gameplay). Then I played each of the minigames once where it was applicable. My pattern for characters was to choose two of each gender and a mixture of the three selectable races.
Level by level comments:
Classic: It all comes down to the one giant ladder and the one giant chute in the middle of the board, doesn't it? I want to bet those have led to many of the first ragequits in our lives. One of the players here also had it kind of rough, but sadly the worst was yet to come.
Zoo: That chute at the right of the center is the bane of my existence on this board. In fact, this one ended up going on so long that I turned on quick play midway through (which, as far as I know, does nothing except skewer the random number generator into getting you to more favorable spots of the board and making going down chutes far less likely). Also, one of the players had it really bad here, even worse than the one from the last board. Finally, I want to get this out of the way now -- the minigames in this game SUCK. Most of them only last a couple of seconds and only a select few increase in difficulty with a replay.
Circus: This board went surprisingly well for all the players. I especially love how it turned out towards the end (which I won't spoil). I also love how much the morals are played for laughs here; it implies that it's perfectly okay to invade a performance or walk inside an animal's cage. Finally, could they really not be bothered to have different minigames for this board?
That's about all I have to say. Enjoy the walkthrough!
