Faith Pennick authored a book about D’Angelo’s Voodoo album for Bloomsbury’s “33 1/3 Music” series. She writes: "I am interested in discussing how D'Angelo tackles (and embraces) Black masculinity in sound and words, while expressing vulnerability simultaneously. Also, what does that kind of vulnerability sound like in present day R&B and hip-hop? I would make the argument that it has diminished significantly."
Pennick is a Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based filmmaker and writer. Her films have aired on U.S. television and screened at film festivals throughout the world. Pennick is currently in development with her narrative feature film directorial debut, Double Effect. Faith's web site: www.orgchaos.com

She currently pens a weekly column for the Chicago Tribune, serves as the editorial director of Cancer Wellness magazine, and previously edited for Vice's THUMP.
