A day after taking voluntary retirement, senior IAS officer A. Md. Imtiaz joined Andhra Pradesh’s ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). The joining ceremony took place in the presence of party president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Camp Office in Amaravati1. Imtiaz’s decision to join YSRCP was influenced by witnessing how the chief minister effectively implemented welfare schemes without any room for corruption or manual intervention. Over the past five years, approximately 2.5 lakh crore rupees were disbursed to eligible poor beneficiaries through various welfare programs using the direct benefit transfer (DBT) mode. Notably, not a single rupee was misappropriated during this process, and beneficiaries were selected purely based on eligibility criteria through village and ward secretariats2. Imtiaz is likely to contest the assembly election from the Kurnool city segment2. 🌟🇮🇳
