Vlog: Shooting the Taj Mahal | Day 01

Guess who’s gone retro in this iPhone 16 world? ☎️ Yup, I’ve got myself a vintage rotary dial phone – and it’s no ordinary one! This beauty’s my hotline to getting to work with some talented folks. My first call? None other than Shah Jahan himself, but it was his trusty attorney friend who spoke on his behalf (you’ll recognize that voice). He’s got a passion project for me: shooting the iconic Taj Mahal!
As a part of this passion project I'll be shooting and making a video of the Taj Mahal, Agra, India for my hypothetical client - Emperor Shah Jahan.

For this I went on a solo trip to Agra. This is the first day of my visit to Agra and the Taj Mahal, and as the day unfolds, it turns out this visit is more of a recce. Without a solid plan for my Taj Mahal video, I took some time to brainstorm creative ideas. One concept I was excited about was collaborating with the photographers at the Taj Mahal complex by exchanging portraits. I’d get my photo taken, and in return, capture their shots with my preferred camera angles. Sadly, this idea didn’t pan out, but I’ll share why in this video.

I’ve also included some useful tips for photographers and aspiring filmmakers planning to capture the beauty of the Taj, so take note! For my stay, I chose Hotel Kamal in Agra, which is probably the cheapest hotel stay in Agra but with an incredible terrace has the view of Taj Mahal. I even got my bucket shot right from their rooftop—definitely the best hotel view I've ever experienced. Links to their location are in bottom of this description.

To wrap up the day, I stopped by Hippie Cafe, located on Joey’s Cafe’s rooftop. This spot is a must-visit in Agra, with fantastic vibes and a stunning view of the Taj Mahal to end the day right.
