Episode 17, What pirates ate and drank.
Hard tack and rum? Raw fish and brine? Salted beer and fresh vegetables. Pirates ate what they could find. Food was valued as much as coins and taken from other ships whenever possible. Water was drunk as a last resort and could often be stagnant on longer trips. Rum, beer, wine, grog was preferred to water, and usually drank first.
