How to find a model agency?

Finding a suitable model agency is not that easy. Every model can sing a song about the eternal stress with the agencies. You have to distinguish between model agencies and people agencies. The kind of jobs that are mediated there are very different. You just have to be very self-critical and look objectively at where you fit in. There are many dubious agencies and model portals on the Internet.
But how can you recognize a reputable agency?
A sign of quality is, for example, membership in the VELMA and there you can find info and agencies. Of course, there are also other reputable agencies that are not necessarily members there. One characteristic of a reputable agency is that they never charge money for inclusion in the file. You should also never pay for initial shoots. Test shoots, internet fees, etc. are pre-funded by the agencies. You don't need professional pictures yet to apply. Plain polo shirts are sufficient. Body-hugging clothes and discreet makeup at most. Many agencies have application forms on their website, but few accept applications over the Internet. It is more effective to go to open auditions or call directly and ask for an appointment. Even if they ask for polas beforehand, in the best case you already have a contact person to whom you can send your pictures directly. When you introduce yourself there, they will take polas of you and measure you. Then you also have to fill out some kind of profile. The big agencies are located in Hamburg, Berlin or Munich and Frankfurt/Main.
