One of the most expensive cars in the world in 1956! Cost new $10,000, top of the line Eldorado convertible only cost $6,500. Built for only 2 years, 1956 and 1957. Remarkably Ford lost money on each car sold largely due to each car being hand assembled. This is from the Claude O estate collection. He had a full-time mechanic maintaining his cars because he wanted to be able to drive any car at any time. 65,170 miles. Very solid, repainted only 1 time. The interior was just professionally restored. It seems to function very well too.

EXTERIOR: It's sheer size and clean lines are impressive. I believe it is a clean, rust free body. The long panels are all straight as an arrow. The panels all fit really nice. The exterior only was repainted one time. The jambs have chrome trim like a Rolls Royce. It's an older paint job that is smooth and shiny. There are some chips, a can of touch up paint is included. The chrome is all original. It's straight and shiny but gently worn, minimal pitting. The hubcaps are hand assembled and these are in excellent shape. American Classic fat white walls look great on this car. Very good original glass.

INTERIOR: You can smell the leather from 5 feet away! A small fortune was just spent on a professional new interior. Being a low mile car all the trim, knobs, gauges, chrome trim is excellent. All new glove soft leather on everything- seats, door panels, dash pad and visors. The seats have firm cushions and piping like a Rolls. New cut carpet with bound edges. Cloth headliner looks new. It has working power seat, windows and even power vent windows. Interior lights work, clock works. The only flaw I noticed is 1 crack in the steering wheel.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very clean and proper. 368-285 hp motor runs smooth. Original aluminum valve covers, complete air cleaner assembly. It features power steering and brakes. Unique exhaust exits through the inner fenders. Working under hood lights.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk compartment reminds me of a Rolls Royce. It is completely lined in carpet with bound edges. It has the spare tire and jack assembly in its original bag. The trunk light works. There is some extra trim included.

UNDERSIDE: Very dry, clean metal. Floors look like they are rust free original. The frame and suspension are smooth metal. It looks like lots been maintained as needed. The dual exhaust runs along the rockers, new tailpipes and mufflers. Shocks, sway bar bushings and brake hoses look recent. Bottom of the motor is clean, not greasy. The 3-speed automatic is clean.

This appears to be a very nice, honest car. Clean, straight body. Everything fits right inside and out. It is very functional from the clock to the reverse lights! The interior is amazing. One of the most expensive cars on the planet in 1956 can be yours for only 50 grand! I feel I underpriced this one.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.
