Trento, the capital of the Trentino province, has a population of 118,000 people and a remarkable history. The Celts founded the ancient settlement, which was quickly overrun and dubbed "Tridentum" by the Romans.
Trento is a city in northern Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region. It is famous for the Buonconsiglio Castle, which has late-medieval fresco cycles. Trento Cathedral, with its rose window and baroque chapel, is located on Piazza Duomo. Casa Cazuffi-Rella, a Renaissance structure with a frescoed exterior, is also on the square.
