Kostas Stamatopoulos, MD, PhD from CERTH Institute of Applied Biosciences, Thessaloniki, Greece gives an overview of his talk on 'High-throughput sequencing (HTS) for immunoglobulin (IG) and T-cell receptor (TR) repertoire studies in lymphoproliferative diseases' held at the at the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2016 Annual Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark. The focus of the talk was on determining how novel methodologies can help analyze recepetors expressed on lymphocytes, which, in turn, can help understand normal function of these receptors and cancers deriving from lymphocytes. Dr Stamatopoulos further focuses on the receptors expressed on malignant B lymphocytes in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and other cancers of B lymphocytes. According to Dr Stamatopoulos, studies investigating the function of these receptors have helped elucidate the process of activation and how one might interfer with the signalling process with targeted drugs.
