The American artist Richard Serra has died at the age of 85, according to The New York Times. The artist died of pneumonia at his home on Long Island, New York.

Serra is particularly known for his enormous steel sculptures, which can be found in some of the world's finest art museums, but when he started out the sculptors and the materials were different.
Here you hear about how he found pieces of rubber on the street and made sculptures out of them. How he, together with the composer Philiph Glass, created epoch-making sculptures out of lead that led to his divorce from his wife.
