Fixit Engineering's blister leak tester is a device used to detect leaks or imperfections in the seals of blister packaging, which are commonly used for pharmaceuticals, food products, and other consumer goods. The primary goal of this testing is to ensure the integrity of the packaging, guaranteeing that the contents are protected from external contaminants like moisture, air, and bacteria, thereby maintaining their quality, safety, and efficacy.  

Purpose:

Fixit Engineering recommends two key Testing Methods :

Vacuum Leak Testing:
The blister pack is placed inside a vacuum chamber.  
A vacuum is applied, creating a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the blister.  
If there is a leak, air will escape from the blister, or the blister cavity might collapse or not inflate properly.

Dye Penetration Test (Blue Dye Test):
The blister packs are submerged in a colored dye solution (typically methylene blue) within a vacuum chamber. A vacuum is applied and then released. If there are any leaks, the dye solution will be drawn into the blister cavities. The blisters are then inspected for the presence of the dye, indicating a leak.  
This method is relatively simple and inexpensive but is destructive as the tested packs cannot be reused.

The choice of leak testing method depends on factors such as the type of product, packaging material, sensitivity requirements, cost considerations, and regulatory guidelines.

Sensitivity: The ability to detect leaks of a specific size (often measured in microns).  
Non-destructive vs. Destructive: Some testers allow the tested packs to be returned to the production line, while others require destruction of the sample.  
Automation: Some testers are manual, while others offer automated testing cycles and data logging.  
Throughput: The number of blister packs that can be tested per cycle.
