We're navigating the Dunes from Earthquaker Devices. The Dunes is the condensed version of the do-it-all Palisades overdrive, which offers the heart of the original with "greatest hits" versions of the rotary controls. The Voice, or diodes switch has been pared down to deliver the three best settings of the original voice knob—MOSFET, Silicon and diode lift ranging from a smoother clipping profile through a hefty, open overdrive flavor. The bandwidth toggle switches between settings 3 and 5 on the original, from a normal Screamer-type tone to a meatier, bass-enhanced version. The Bright switch was also ported over, giving players a choice between stock 808 sound and a brighter version that works great for humbuckers or darker amps. The sound of the Dunes is nothing short of immaculate, and even in its stock settings, its enhanced range makes it a stellar entry into screamer canon. Like all earthquaker devices, players can expect an excellent build using top-shelf components, and each pedal is hand built within the traveling caravan of Akron Ohio.
