But the most incredible discovery came 70 years later when Jacques Cousteau explored the wreck. His team found a lump of corroded bronze that turned out to be a complex set of interlocking gears.

It's now known as the Antikythera Mechanism—an ancient analog "computer" so sophisticated it could predict the movement of the sun, moon, and planets, and even the exact timing of solar and lunar eclipses. This one device changed our entire perception of ancient technology.
