Stone Kaunas castle built in gothic style is situated on an elevated bank near the Neris river in Kaunas city. In the past It served as a strategic outpost. A new sculpture "Freedom Warrior" (a bronze horseman with a horse) was erected near Kaunas castle in 2018. In the present this castle is served as museum and is open for tourist and hosts occasional festivals.
