On Saturday, October 1, 2016 at approximately 8:20p.m., Community Response Unit officers had a vehicle stopped at Baldwin Street, west of Spadina Avenue.

It is reported that:

officers had a vehicle stopped on Baldwin Street, west of Spadina Avenue

during the investigation, the driver left the scene injuring an officer that had his arm inside the vehicle, and injuring another officer’s leg

the officers followed the vehicle southbound on Spadina Avenue while riding their bicycles

the vehicle continued southbound on the Spadina Avenue streetcar tracks, attempting to evade the officers.

the driver made a right turn onto King Street West and proceeded westbound

the vehicle made a U-turn to proceed eastbound on King Street West, drove directly at one of the officers, hitting him, knocking him to the ground, and running over his police bicycle.

the vehicle was last seen southbound on Spadina Avenue.

 
Police have located the vehicle and driver involved in this fail to remain collision.

The vehicle involved in relation to this investigation is described as a 2003 Honda Pilot, silver in colour with Alberta licence plate-BNX6025.

Video surveillance footage of the vehicle is attached for release to the public. The video is looking west and shows the vehicle travelling southbound on Spadina Avenue at Queen Street West. This area was heavily travelled by motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

Investigators would like to ask the public to view the attached video, and review any of their personal cellular, video surveillance footage, or in-car dash camera footage, to determine if any of these incidents were captured.
