Tensions have boiled over outside federal Parliament House between pro-Chinese government supporters and pro-democracy protesters during Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s visit to Australia. Pro-democracy lawyer Ted Hui, who experienced similar scenes in Adelaide, described pro-Beijing demonstrators as ‘aggressive’ and ‘uncivilised’ in their attempt to drown out anti-Chinese Communist Party messages.
