The secret to durable adhesion in restorative dentistry

Описание к видео The secret to durable adhesion in restorative dentistry

Have you ever thought about how often we have to replace restorations? Over the years, GC R&D has developed solutions that address the most important problems dentists are facing in adhesive dentistry. This lecture takes you through the historical background on adhesion, what we know about the degradation of dental restoratives and new bonding and filler technologies used in G-Premio BOND and G-ænial Universal Injectable. A durable adhesion is one of the key parameters in breaking the repeat restoration cycle. Water and other fluids are the main problems in achieving a durable adhesion as they cause hydrolytic degradation. At the restorative interface, resin can degrade, collagen is breaking down and fillers are lost due to hydrolysis of the silane coupling. A chemical bonding provides stability but hydrophilic resins, such as HEMA, degrade over time.
GC has focused on adhesive technology with reduced technique sensitivity, such as the HEMA-free adhesives and the glass ionomer technology. G-Premio BOND is the most recent adhesive in this range, which is universal in its use, owing to the functional monomers.
Another important development was the improvement of both filler and silane technology. Even though it’s not always getting much attention, silane technology has a considerable influence on the composite durability. The Full-coverage Silane Coating (FSC) and the ultrafine fillers in G-ænial Universal Injectable result in an outstanding flexural strength, which makes this composite eligible for the restoration of all cavity classes. The shrinkage behaviour is comparable to competitor’s bulk-fill products. These innovations truly transform the way you work, with handling properties that have opened a way for new, time-saving techniques without having to compromise in strength.
