On Friday May 5th, MTV hosted the 2017 National College Signing Day keystone event featuring former First Lady Michelle Obama, held at New York City’s historic Public Theater with a student audience from across NYC high schools. This is the fourth consecutive year that Mrs. Obama has celebrated College Signing Day, and this year she was joined by dozens of actors, musicians, athletes and other celebrity personalities to congratulate the students on their hard work.

College Signing Day--a project of Mrs. Obama's Better Make Room and Reach Higher initiatives--celebrates high school seniors choosing to pursue higher education at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university and continues her efforts to inspire young people to pursue their education past high school.

In addition to Mrs. Obama’s event in New York, more than 1,000 College Signing Day events were held in nearly every state by communities, students, and organizations committed to helping students pursue higher education.
