Great interpretation of Alexander Scriabin's The Poem of Ecstasy, played by the Philharmonia Orchestra and conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen at 2010 BBC Proms.

Hi Travis and Suzi! What you are about to hear and experience has got to be the most difficult musical experience for me to try to explain, but I will do my best to prepare you for it: This music seems like it is showing you one beautiful landscape after another, each one more vivid and vibrant than the last, while it also relentlessly questions you about what you are seeing. However, imperceptibly to you, the music is secretly infiltrating your brain fold by fold like a ribbon without you realizing it as it digs deeper and deeper into your brain matter without you feeling it. When the music reaches the end, the ribbon is pulled taught and your brain goes into shock as you intensely feel every possible emotion all at once. The closest non-musical parallel I can compare this to was when I saw the movie “The Fault in Our Stars” in the theater ten or so years ago. During the dinner scene (after the two main characters visit the Anne Frank house) where Testakleez professes his love to Philoppia (or whatever their names were), the lady sitting to my left was sobbing uncontrollably while the couple to my right were desperately but unsuccessfully trying to contain their laughter. I don’t know if you are going to laugh, cry, grin from ear to ear, gasp, and/or faint when the orchestra plays the last chord, but something is going to happen to you by the end of this piece, and you will never be the same.
