Small businesses are routinely touted as key drivers of economic growth and employment in South Africa, but statistically the reality is that on average about 50% of all start-up businesses in South Africa fail within 24 months and 70% to 80 % of small businesses fail within the first five years.

Against this backdrop, it stands to reason that there would be a great deal of apprehension and anxiety by would be entrepreneurs, but what can be done to avoid becoming part of the negative statistics?
