Silent Wings 1971 Bristol & Gloucestershire Gliding Club

Описание к видео Silent Wings 1971 Bristol & Gloucestershire Gliding Club

Filmed and produced in 1970 by a small group of members from Cotswold Cine Club in Stroud, Gloucestershire (UK). "Silent Wings" is the story of a novice glider pilot in the Cotswolds.
Camerawork was by John Kerry and Clifford Smith, who also voiced the part of pilot Guy Harris. Malcolm Jones was narrator, and I produced the audio track on a 1960s Philips reel to reel recorder.
John Kerry tells me this week that his camera was nearly tugged out of his hands by the slipstream of the Auster aircraft.
Unfortunately the original two-track audio tape is unavailable, so I have uplifted the track from the fairly worn audio stripe recording,
This film never won any competitions, but for those of us involved in the production it holds fond memories, and was very popular when included in film shows promoting Cotswold Cine Club.
I have used the full width of the film image available when scanning, whereas most projectors would have displayed a slightly cropped image.
Look out for distant views of the horseshoe bend of the River Severn, Sharpness Docks and the Woodchester lakes.
The film gained second place in the Gloucester Inter Club Competiton hosted in Cheltenham in 1970.
