A clash between an Indian Army officer and SpiceJet staff at Srinagar airport on July 26 has spiraled into a major controversy, now fueling a trending #BoycottSpiceJet campaign led largely by military veterans online. Former Corps Commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon hit out at the airline in a viral post, while ex-fighter pilot MJ Augustine even suggested an “overground worker” angle. SpiceJet claims the officer was carrying over twice the permitted cabin baggage, refused to pay, and assaulted four employees, while those defending him allege he had a single cleared bag, was mocked, denied boarding, and acted only in retaliation and self-defence. The Army has said it remains committed to discipline and is cooperating with the probe, but online anger continues to mount with veterans calling for a boycott of the airline.
