I had been wanting to try the new Fougere Angelique. And the lather was top notch. The first pass was a little tuggy, though.

For a young blade, I expected it to be a lot smoother on the first pass, but it was almost tuggy. After that it was fine and the shave was close.

Soap Notes - Barrister and Mann Excelsior - Fougere Angelique:
Them: "Lime, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Geranium, Tonka Bean, Cedar, Balsam Fir, Sandalwood, Smoldering Flame, Oakmoss"

Scent: Mainly the lime/lemon type of citrus with the florals of the geranium. I smelled the tonka in the tub, but not int he lather. Hint of smoulder as well.

I delayed getting this sample because the scent notes and comments from folks who have tried it seemed to indicate that it might not be for me. Turns out that was true, but I'm glad I tried it.

Scent Strength: 6/10, very present during shaving.

Lather: Very nice lather today. Nailed the water soap ratio. Light, very slick, luxurious.

Hydration: Perfect (for me)

0.25 tsp soap with a Lightly-Wet brush
3 tsp added to make lather
= 6 passes of lather

Brush Notes - Dogwood Handcrafts - Purple Gray w Synbad (1 uses):
So soft and flexible, with this taller than average loft. I had hopes that it would be nice for me. But it wasn't. Due to the backbone, it still shoved me around like all the other synths do when I reverse directions.

*Shave Quality*
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Just a little tugging
Neck: Just a little tugging
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get
Neck: Few hairs are showing some tip length (with most being cut flush)

Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair.
