Dalton's Law states that the total pressure of a gas mixture is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of its constituent gases.

According to kinetic theory, the pressure of a gas is due to the collisions of its molecules with the walls of the container. The pressure exerted by a gas is proportional to the number of collisions per unit area.
