90. Affidavit

This video is about affidavit. Affidavit is a Sworn statment made by an individual or entity Before any Court, authority or before any institution. According to order 19 of CPC, the courts can ask and demand an affidavit from a party to the proceedings to prove a particular fact.Affidavit will have its own validity and reliability in the eyes of law and courts will respect and trust the statements made in the Affidavit, till it is found to be wrong. All Affidavits can be sworn before Notary and affidavits to be filed before the courts can be sworn before oath commissioners,administrative officers of courts, judges including Notaries.
Affidavits for general purpose can be sworn on a Rs.20 stamp paper.
If anybody swear to any false affidavit, they have to face the action for perjury i.e., giving false evidence.
