bayelsa state governor, sen. Douye Diri has attributed country’s educational challenges to inadequate funding, calling for urgent reforms to align the system with global standards.

Speaking at the 50th convocation ceremony of University of Port Harcourt, Governor Diri stressed the need for consistent investment in the education sector, urging governments at all levels to prioritise budgetary allocations for institutions, with complementary support from the private sector and donor agencies.

He also charged policymakers and education managers to revamp and regularly update school curricula across all levels of learning to reflect the demands of the digital age.

Governor Diri further urged universities to take the lead in conducting research that enhances the development and optimisation of made-in-Nigeria inventions and products.
