Описание к видео 4th of July American Flag Inside Cake | 4th of July Dessert!

What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with a flag inside cake!
This 4th of July flag inside cake looks really complicated to make, but with these easy steps, you can make a flag inside cake in no time and have a fun 4th of July dessert! This flag inside cake was also really fun to decorate since there are numerous ways to decorate the top and sides. Get creative and make a flag inside cake to celebrate the 4th of July! Make sure you dye the cake batter and icing a really bold red & blue color since the colors make this cake. I have found that coloring the frosting the day before you would like to use it gives time for the color to set and be a bolder color. Americolor gel food colors work great! Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Items Needed
2 white boxed cake mixes or double your favorite homemade recipe
2 1/2 batches of your favorite American Buttercream icing (Yes, this cake calls for ALOT of frosting, but you can always freeze any remaining frosting to use at a future date. You would rather have more than enough frosting, than run out in the process of making this fun cake!
Piping Tips
Cake Boards
Cake Turntable
2D Piping Tip
Cake Leveler
Biscuit or round cookie cutter
Red food coloring (Gel food coloring works best)
Blue food coloring (Gel food coloring works best)

Directions
1. Use 2 white boxed cake mixes, but feel free to use your favorite cake mix or homemade cake batter to make this flag cake. Add some cake batter to one large and one medium sized bowl, adding more batter to the larger bowl. Add a good amount of red food coloring to the cake batter in the large bowl. This red batter will need to fill one 6 inch cake pan and one 4 inch cake pan.
Add a good amount of blue food dye to the cake batter in the medium bowl. This blue batter will need to fill one 6 inch cake pan. Make sure you add a good amount of food coloring for the colors to be bold.
2. Pour the red cake batter into one 6 inch cake pan and one 4 inch cake pan filling them a little more than half. Pour the blue cake batter into one 6 inch cake pan filling it a little more than half.
3. Bake these cakes in the oven following the directions on the box or the recipe if using a homemade cake recipe.
4. Use a cake leveler or a serrated knife and remove the top of 6 inch red cake. Divide the cake into three layers and make sure you cut the cake evenly. Remove the top of the 4 inch red cake and evenly cut the cake into two layers. These layers need to be thinner since frosting will be in between these cakes. Remove the top of the blue cake. Using a round shaped cookie cutter, remove the center of the blue cake. Use the round shaped cookie cutter to cut both of the 4 inch red cakes. Feel free to save any cake scraps from this cake to make cake pops later.
5. Dye some frosting blue and red for the decorations. You will definitely need more white frosting than colored frosting since you will need to add frosting to the layers as well as a crumb coat. I find it helpful to let the frosting sit overnight to get bolder colors.
6. Add one of the 6 inch red cake layers to a cake stand and add a decent amount of white frosting. The white frosting will act as the stripe in the flag, so you want to make sure that you add a good amount. Repeat this step two more times for each 6 inch red cake. Add the blue cake on top of the red and add one of the red cakes inside. Add a little amount of frosting and then add the last red cake on top. The small red cake should be even with the blue cake.
7. Apply frosting to the top of the cake and the sides of the cake for the crumb coat. Place the crumb coated cake in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes or until the cake is firm. Apply a layer of frosting to the cake, making sure to cover all the crumbs. Use a cake smoothing tool and try to get the cake as smooth as possible. You can decorate the cake however you would like but since it's almost the 4th of July, I decided to make an American flag on the top using a 2D piping tip.
