Cliff from K-Var explains the innovation involved with the development of the Arsenal AK-20 platform.
We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the AK-20 recently. So we wanted to make a quick video to go over the rifle.
These were specifically designed for the military and law enforcement. There was a military contract that requested a special purpose rifle that has specific functionalities and features.
Arsenal wanted to use the culmination of all their experience and expertise to design a rifle with the best features out there, all in one package. Therefore, the base of the rifle is a milled receiver, hammer forged barrel, chrome lined.
Where the rear block would be, there is a block that sits in the receiver that essentially holds the front end of the rifle. The barrel is truly, free floating, stemming from the block resulting in some of the best accuracy seen out of the AK platform. The handguard doesn’t mount onto the barrel, it also mounts to the block and then onto itself, not touching the barrel. The gas tube, which is also mounted to the rear block, is truly free floating.

The gas block is adjustable (3 settings), allowing the user to shoot mil-spec ammo suppressed and unsuppressed reliably.
The next setting is subsonic ammo, subsonic ammo can be shot both suppressed and unsuppressed reliably in this setting.
The last setting allows the operator to completely shut the gas off. Essentially, this turns the rifle into a bolt action rifle for ultimate suppression. You don’t hear the mechanics of the rifle; you don’t get any released gas from the bolt area.
