The Blue Devils won their third consecutive ACC Men's Basketball Tournament with a 79-53 victory over the Tar Heels. Duke would go on to win the NCAA Championship less than a month later. The 26-point margin of victory is the second largest margin of victory in a championship game in ACC Men's Basketball Tournament history. The two teams split their matchups in the regular season and shared the ACC regular title crown, but UNC came into the ACC Tournament as the 1-seed and Duke was the 2-seed. Shane Battier was named ACC Tournament MVP and scored 20 points in the championship game. Mike Dunleavy was the Blue Devils high-scorer with 24 points. Joseph Forte was the Tar Heel leading scorer with 14 points.
