Описание к видео VANUATU People : BLACK , BLONDE and UN-AFRICAN. (Why are they Blonde?)

#melanesians #papuans #polynesians #blackblondes
Thi video is about the people of Vanuatu. Approximately 3,000 years ago, the Lapita people, renowned for their seafaring prowess and distinctive pottery, became the first known settlers of Vanuatu.
Subsequent migrations introduced Papuan ancestry to the region. Around 2,500 years ago, groups from New Guinea and the Bismarck Archipelago arrived, intermingling with the existing Lapita descendants. This blend of Austronesian and Papuan lineages laid the foundation for the genetic makeup of contemporary Ni-Vanuatu populations. Today the Vanuatu people are indigenous to the archipelago of Vanuatu in the South Pacific and the nation is comprised of approximately 300000 people.
Modern genetic studies have illuminated the intricate ancestry of the Ni-Vanuatu. Analyses of ancient DNA reveal that present-day Ni-Vanuatu derive approximately 40-50% of their ancestry from the original Austronesian settlers, with the remainder primarily from Papuan sources.
Further genetic contributions arose from Polynesian migrations between 700 and 300 years ago.
The phenotypic traits of the Ni-Vanuatu mirror their diverse genetic heritage. Typically, individuals possess dark skin, a characteristic associated with Melanesian populations. However, a notable proportion of
Blond hair among Vanuatu people, and more broadly Melanesians, is due to a genetic mutation in the TYRP1 gene, which affects pigmentation. This mutation is unique to Melanesian populations and not found in Europeans, indicating it evolved independently. About 5-10% of Melanesians, including those in Vanuatu, carry this recessive trait, which is more common in children and may darken with age.
