Legislation in Delaware (HB 350) to put politicians in control of the state’s nonprofit hospitals and slash $360 million in hospital resources is definitely not what the doctor ordered. The Delaware Healthcare Association, which represents hospitals, health systems and related organizations, needs your help to fight this risky legislation.

The drastic cuts will result in the immediate slashing of hospital services, reducing the quality of and access to care.

Stripping control from local hospitals and their community boards and putting five political appointees in charge of all hospital operations is a risky plan that would harm patient care and fail to control healthcare costs in Delaware.

Developing a serious plan to contain healthcare costs requires insurers, government, practitioners, labor, medical device and pharmaceutical companies to work together.

DHA has offered several alternatives that focus on transparency rather than politician control. We are ready to collaborate with policymakers and key stakeholders to address Delaware’s healthcare challenges but will vigorously oppose this effort to harm our essential healthcare system.
