Welcome...great Recipe for Beef filled Cabbage Rolls with homemade Tomato Sauce. We like to serve them with Rice and sautéed Cabbage (made with the left over).
Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients:
Sauce:
2 tsp Oil
1/2 med Onion, chopped
2 Garlic Cloves, chopped
1 can (14.3oz)
Tomato Soup
1 can (15 oz) Tomato Sauce
1 can (14 oz) finely chopped Tomatoes
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 tbsp Brown Sugar
Rolls:
1 head Green Cabbage
1/3 cup Rice, raw
1 lb. Ground Beef
1/4 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Crushed Red Peppers
2 Garlic Cloves, chopped
2,5 tbsp Parsley, chopped (plus extra to sprinkle)
1/2 med Onion, chopped
4 tbsp prepared Sauce
1 Egg, beaten
8 x 11,5 x 2,5" Dish
Aluminum Foil
Cook Rice, cool & set aside.
To make Sauce.
Heat Oil on med/high Temperature.
Sauté Onions and Garlic.
Add Tomato Soup, Tomato Sauce, finely chopped Tomatoes, Salt, Pepper, Worcestershire Sauce & Brown Sugar.
Combine well and simmer 10-15 Minutes, stirring occasionally.
Set aside.
Cook Cabbage in boiling Water (15-20 Minutes) or until Leaves are soft.
Rolls:
Combine Beef, Pepper, Salt, crushed Red Peppers, Garlic, Parsley, Onions, Rice, prepared Sauce & Egg.
Mix well and divide in 8 equal Portions.
Peel off 8 Cabbage Leaves, cut out Rib and dab dry.
(Tip: if Leaves are small layer 2 small ones)
Preheat Oven 350° F
Place one Beef Mixture Portion in the center of the leaf, fold in the sides and roll
the Cabbage Leaf up.
Put a thin layer of prepared Tomato Sauce in Dish.
Place Cabbage Rolls seam side down.
Top with Tomato Sauce.
Cover with Aluminum Foil.
Bake 75-85 Minutes.
Let stand for 5-10 Minutes.
Sprinkle with Parsley.
