[4K] Walking Minneapolis Nine Mile Creek Pt. 3 - Sunset Walk - 2024

Explore with me again through the Nine Mile Creek area!

This beautiful trail follows the most downstream segment of Nine Mile Creek until it’s empties into the Minnesota River. The trail crosses the creek on a series of bridges. At one point the trail heads up to the bluff top where it passes through an oak savanna affording beautiful views.

The creek's name comes from the distance early settlers had to travel from Fort Snelling to the creek crossing along Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington, which was nine miles. Another story is that soldiers from Fort Snelling named the creek after having to travel nine miles to a ford on the creek to reach a saloon.
