K.A. Cobell, author of the YA thriller "Looking for Smoke" and featured author at this year's National Book Festival in Washington D.C., joined us in person at the Lacey Timberland Library and online via Zoom.

K.A. Cobell, Staa’tssipisstaakii, is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation and currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family. Her debut young adult thriller, “Looking for Smoke,” follows four teens on the Blackfeet Reservation who become the suspects of a murder investigation. Cobell’s work draws attention to the prevalent issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women in North America.

This program is a partnership of the Washington Center for the Book (an affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book administered by Washington State Library) and the Lacey Timberland Library. This program was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
