Lung abscess is a type of liquefaction necrosis of the lung tissue and formation of cavities (more than 2 cm) containing necrotic debris or fluid caused by microbial infection. It is recommended to treat lung abscess with broad-spectrum antibiotics, due to poly microbial flora, such as Clindamycin (600 mg IV on 8 h) and then 300 mg PO on 8 h or a combination of ampicillin/sulbactam (1.5-3 gr IV on 6 h) (32).
