The Core Observer is an early-game boss that’s basically a flying robot backed up by a swarm of smaller drones. The real purpose of this fight is instructional: it teaches you elemental fundamentals. Shock for shields, corrosive for armor, then back to shock once the shields come up again.

Movement matters here. In this run, you’ll see me get knocked down or pushed into survival mode simply because I stood still and tried to face-tank the damage. Even with a build designed to absorb punishment, standing in place is a bad habit. Staying mobile dramatically reduces how dangerous this fight actually is.

I also had to adjust on the fly because I walked into the fight without fully thinking through the mechanics. Once it became clear he was cycling shields and armor, I stopped mid-fight to swap into proper shock and corrosive weapons. That adjustment alone makes the encounter far smoother.

The waterfall grenade absolutely shines here. The way it chains and splits damage makes it perfect for clearing out the smaller drones, and the constant crackling audio is a good indicator that it’s doing work across the entire arena.

Overall, this is a fun and straightforward boss. It can be rough when you first encounter it, but later in the game it becomes a clean, satisfying reminder of why elemental damage matters—and why shock for shields and corrosive for armor are lessons worth learning early.
