US Senator Chuck Schumer has warned that president Trump might provoke a war with Iran as a “major distraction” from a series of damaging domestic headlines.

During an interview on MS NOW, Schumer was asked whether the President might attempt to shift public focus ahead of his State of the Union address, given recent negative news regarding the Epstein files, poor GDP figures, and controversies surrounding ICE deportations. Schumer agreed that Trump frequently employs such diversionary tactics. The Senator characterised the President as becoming “almost unhinged” when facing political difficulties and explicitly highlighted his concern over what actions Trump might take regarding Iran to deflect attention.
