... ... A ... ... pgprojex [1999] prospect ... ... My first attempt at self-producing and performing everything in a very basic at-home studio set-up, I'm talking "Windows 98 Sound Recorder", with cut and paste, single-track layering (NOT multi-track yet) . After 10+ years of playing in bands leaning towards the heavier side, and beginning to learn the craft of songwriting, it was time to focus on my more POP orientated pieces. "Dry" was the first song chosen because I'd played it live many times with the band "i", I knew the song well so in theory it should be easy. "4U" was a new song so I would be able to explore different soundscapes, and doing only two songs meant a more focused approach ... but ... I never got to finish them before we moved.
... ... B ... ... pgprojex [2001] jean st. jean ... ... I'll just start again because, by this point I have an actual decent sound-card with actual software which is a huge plus but the negative, needing to learn how to use it. With a feeling of being so close last time, the "prospect" tracks "Dry" and"4U" were chosen again ... but ... I never got to finish them before we moved.
... ... C ... ... pgprojex [2003] yar'mouth ... ... I was now playing bass in a extreme heavy band called "nihilism". Originally captured during "... the journey" recording sessions, I wrote this demo while experimenting with new software and trying to get back into heavier writing again. Being that it was my first song with an already established band, my thought was to get down some basic ideas, then let "nihilism" finish it ... but ... we never finished it.
... ... D ... ... pgprojex [2009] gigley wedding ... ... These three songs were originally recorded for "pgprojex [2003] ... the journey", my first attempt at a full length "pgprojex" album ... but ... I never got to finish it before we moved and, it proved hard to find the time while I was performing in five different bands at the same time. Then in December 2009 I re-issued these tracks as part of our wedding soundtrack.
... ... E ... ... pgprojex [2011] I Ode It To My Ma ... ... When my Mum was dying of cancer I started writing songs again. I was working on a trio a dedications which I played to her and the family just before she passed, they were all very touched, and Mum asked for this one to be played at her funeral. In five days, I recorded, mixed, and produced this version. I LOVE YOU MUM.
