My animation, "Creative Destruction" was displayed during the
Bachelors of Fine Arts Senior Exhibition show. Qualified students
entered in this exhibition to display our Senior Project in Fletcher
Hall's student gallery at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Creative Destruction

My work deals with the portrayal of the human body and how it can be viewed as a natural process. We can learn from our own bodies and celebrate our perceived imperfections. However, the way we treat our bodies can also relate to the way we treat nature. A person who abuses and neglects their body can be compared to the way humans impact the earth negatively. Conversely, a person who celebrates and takes care of their body can be compared to how one celebrates nature and contributes to it positively. Both the human body and nature at large have processes and forms that can either be corrupted or positively developed. Through gestural figures and colored washes my work portrays the decision that humans ultimately have regarding the ability to choose a path of progression or destruction.
